Successful and without any hitches. – Ate at Tecolote Cafe. Tecolote means “owl” in Aztec. A super-friendly New Mexican Native American family owns and runs this little gem. It was fantastic. First of all, they start you out with a homemade bakery basket. Say those words to yourself. Bakery. Basket. This alone made Christen fall in love. In ours were a banana muffin, a chocolate chip muffin, a biscuit, strawberry jam, and real butter. Yum. We went on to have huevos yucatecos (corn tortilla, black beans, scrambled eggs, and cheese, smothered in green chile sauce – yes more chile sauce), served with pan fried potatoes and pan fried bananas! Double yum. We also had a short stack of their atole pinon pancakes – read: blue corn and pine nut pancakes. They served them with warm syrup in a glass. Oh. My. God. Delicious. We are getting fatter by the minute on this trip… – Went to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Watched two very informative mini-films and explored the vast collection. This was one intriguing woman. We bought out the museum store. – Wandered the Plaza de Santa Fe area. This is where a lot of locals of Native American descent
